From the guys @ Brotronics comes their top of the line Diversity Receiver. Never worry about losing receiver signal again with this setup.
The on board battery charger will have a peak of 200mA depending on the state of the battery. It is designed for a 1s LiPo of any capacity (200mAh or higher is a good start)
In the event of a crash or brownout, the LiPo will supplement power to the system to power the buzzer and UHF beacon.
The LiPo also acts as a capacitor of sorts, it will provide power to the system regardless of what voltage being supplied to the RX only being used when needed.
It is recommended that a switch be put in line with the battery so it can be disconnected when not in use. When the RX has an alternative source of power (BEC/ESC) it will automatically manage the charge state of the battery keeping it at 4.2V and then stoping the charge until the voltage dips back below that threshold.
When the system has power over the main PPM/servo rail, the blue ‘Power Good’ LED will be active, when the battery is being charged the red ‘Charging’ LED will become active.
Solder the bridge and select the appropriate output within OpenLRSng Configurator Everything shares the same RSSI pin on the board with the exception of PPM injection.
Diversity requires a longer preamble on the TX, this can be configured within Configurator by enabling the ‘Diversity’ option in the TX tab. The LEDs will cycle between the two antennas during the preamble and select the one with the highest signal for the next packet. It may appear that both LEDs are on due to the speed at which this happens.
It is recommended to mount the antennas with different polarization, for example if you are using a monopole on each separate them 90 degrees in a ‘V’ pattern. This will allow you to roll and bank out of phase on one antenna while putting the other in the proper orientation.
